This past weekend I met with the fabulous Sammy Davis of Sammy Davis Vintage. What started out as a little interrogation chat fest turned into a big kid game of dress-up! I’m not quite a seasoned vintage/thrift shopper but Sammy really had me in a few pieces that I definitely would NOT have tried on by myself but I loved them anyway. If you’re ever in NYC and want to have fun on a Saturday afternoon, stop down at A Little Wicked on E. Houston and play dress-up with Sam! Here are some of my favorite pieces:
I’m thinking about wearing this bright number while walking on the beach in Costa Rica with my honey…Love the bright colors and pattern!
This was one of the very dressed-up outfits I tried on. It was comfy and I could definitely see someone else pulling the jumper off. However, I’m much more conservative myself! I hope someone good snaps this one up though – it reminded me of Blossom way too much! (In a good way!!)
This was one of the tops that I definitely would not have tried without having Sammy there. She’s got a great eye for color. And this top popped for me!
I adored this dress. It was casual enough to wear to work with a cardigan but dressy enough for sparkly heels and fun earrings. You can’t really tell in the photo but my baby-making hips got in the way of completely zippering. Sigh.
This is the one piece that I most regret leaving behind (and now it’s all “i’m sold! i’m unavailable” and i’m all “but baby, i’m sorry, i love you!”) Lesson learned: if you like it, buy it!
I adore this outfit. The top is a really neat material – probably too heavy for the summertime but gorgeous for the fall.

I had an amazing day – and many thanks to Sammy for all of the above photos – she made me feel significantly less awkward as the day went on (hi, i hate having my photo taken!) Looking forward to chatting with her more about all-things vintage along with another little project that I’m currently working on. It’s still in the planning stages so I’ll let you know as soon as it’s a bit more solidified.
Also, for additional pictures of these pieces and others that I didn’t include, please check out the Meg’s Mumbo Facebook page.
PPS: Also, please follow Sammy on Twitter, fan her on Facebook and love her over on her fabulous YouTube channel.
